(11-25-09) Cass Township fire fighters respond to accident in Highridge.
CASS TOWNSHIP, PA: On November 25, 2009 at 11:10 hours, the Cass Township-South Cass and Heckschersville Fire Companies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Keystone Blvd in Cass Township. The phone caller reported to the 911 Center dispatcher the accident was near the entrance of Wegmans Distribution Center and there were no injuries.
The Engine 268 and Engine 263 arrived on scene and found a small car on the roadway with the driver self extricated. The Cass Township fire fighters provided hazard and accident scene traffic control. The fire fighters remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed by a tow truck.

(10-7-09) House damage by fire on a windy day in Cass Township
CASS TOWNSHIP, PA - On October 7, 2009 at 3:10 p.m. the Cass Township Fire Department which includes the Heckschersville-Clover, Forestville and South Cass fire companies, were dispatched to 39 Deer Lane in South Cass for a possible house fire. The 911 center received multiple calls of a possible working fire and then dispatched Minersville EMS and Minersville Rescue Hook and Ladder.
The first firefighters arrived in a minutes and found smoke and flames coming from the attic of the home. The fire continued to spread quickly and began to move to the roof.
Minersville Ladder 519, Forestville Engine 267, and South Cass Engine 268 arrived on scene first and found a working fire. Engine 267 established a water supply from a hydrant and supplied Ladder 519. Engine 268 and Ladder 519 made an offensive attack to stop the fire. The engine companies from Minersville and Cass Township staged in front of the home on the roadway. The additional engine crews backed up the attack crew and entered the residence and stopped the spreading fire.

The Clover Engine 263 and Branchdale Engine 661 responded to the scene and their crews assist in fire attack operations.
The smoke and fire conditions in the home decreased and the crews had the fire under control in the home. The aggressive attack on the fire had it stopped and in a half hour.
The fire was under control in a hour and all hot spots were out with no rekindles.
The fire chief reported that there were no serious injuries to fire fighters and the home received moderate damage.

(9-11-09) Firefighters fight fire in an old stone home in Foster Township
FOSTER TOWNSHIP, PA - On September 11, 2009 at 11:00 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant-Foster Township and Cass Township Fire Department which includes the Heckschersville-Clover, South Cass, Citizens-Forrestville Fire Companies were dispatched to the village of Mt. Pleasant, Foster Township for a unknown type fire. The 911 Center then received multiple phone calls of a working abandoned house fire. The center dispatched Lavalle-Butler Township, Phoenix Park-Branch Township and Llewellyn fire companies for their tankers.
The first firefighters arrived in minutes and found smoke and flames coming from a large abandon stone home. The fire continued to spread quickly and began to move through the roof.
Clover Engine 263 and South Cass Engine 268 arrived on scene first and found the working fire. Engine 268 established a water supply from a hydrant and supplied Engine 263. Engine 263 made an offensive attack to stop the fire. Engine 263 placed their deck gun in service and hit the fire. Foster Township Engine 353 stood by at the hydrant. The additional engine crews backed up the attack crew and stopped the spreading fire. Firefighters then entered the wood line with additional hose lines and searched for extension.
The Llewellyn, Phoenix Park and Lavalle Tankers responded to the scene and their crews assist in operations. Tanker companies staged in front of the home on the roadway.
The smoke and fire conditions in the home improved and the crews had the fire out just in an two hour. The fire was under control in two hours and all hot spots were out with one minor rekindle the next day.
The fire chief reported that there were no serious injuries to firefighters and the vacant home destroyed. Pottsville EMS stood by on scene during the incident.
